The Opportunity

Trillions of dollars of investment, aid, and infrastructure decisions are made every year with incomplete information about how communities and economies are actually changing on the ground. Atlas AI exists to close that gap.

We’re a geospatial AI company, spun out of Stanford and founded in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation, that turns satellite imagery and planetary-scale data into predictive intelligence about economic and demographic change. Our Aperture® Platform serves commercial enterprises, governments, and development organizations who need to understand what’s happening—and what’s coming—in communities around the world.

We’re looking for a Geospatial Solutions Engineer to join us on a 6-month contract to configure, deploy, and tailor our platform for customers working on high-impact problems, with an initial focus on partners in the public health space.

This is a hands-on, applied and customer-facing role. You’ll be taking the powerful geospatial AI capabilities Atlas AI has developed and turning them into configured, validated, customer-ready solutions. That means understanding what a customer needs, working within our enterprise tooling and infrastructure to deliver it, and collaborating closely with them to iterate until the solution truly fits their workflow and decision-making process.

What You’ll Do

Deploy & Configure

  • Configure and deploy the Aperture® Platform for specific customer use cases, working within Atlas AI’s existing models, data pipelines, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Build applied GeoAI solutions by assembling, adapting, and fine-tuning Atlas AI’s core model outputs for customer-specific geographies, indicators, and analytical needs.
  • Conduct rigorous quality assurance and validation of deliverables before they reach the customer.

Collaborate with Customers

  • Work directly with customer teams to understand their technical environment, data practices, and decision-making workflows.
  • Coordinate closely on project goals, timelines, and evolving requirements, providing regular updates and incorporating feedback throughout the engagement.
  • Serve as a day-to-day technical point of contact for your assigned customers, with support from senior Atlas AI team members in high-stakes settings.

Learn and Contribute

  • Develop a deep understanding of how customers use geospatial intelligence in practice—their tools, their IP, their analytical culture—and feed those insights back to the Atlas AI product and engineering teams.
  • Document deployment configurations, customer-specific adaptations, and lessons learned to strengthen Atlas AI’s solutions playbook.
  • Collaborate daily with other Product & Solutions team members to share knowledge, troubleshoot issues, and improve delivery processes.

Who You Are

Required

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in data science, geospatial analysis, ML engineering, or a closely related applied technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with geospatial data and tools (satellite imagery, GIS platforms, spatial data processing, or remote sensing).
  • Strong Python skills and comfort working within established engineering infrastructure (Google Cloud Platform, version control, CI/CD, workflow orchestration).
  • Experience in a client-facing or customer-collaborative technical role—you know how to listen, communicate clearly, and deliver work that earns trust.
  • Ability to manage your own workstream: prioritize tasks, flag blockers early, and keep projects moving within defined timelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred

  • Background or coursework in public health, epidemiology, or health systems—helpful but not required.
  • Experience deploying data products or analytical platforms for external customers (not just internal stakeholders).
  • Familiarity with demographic or socioeconomic datasets and their use in applied analytics.
  • Experience working with global organizations, NGOs, or development agencies.
  • Comfort working asynchronously with a distributed, international team across time zones.

What Drives You

You’re energized by the bridge between technology and impact. You like taking sophisticated tools and making them work in the real world for real users. You’re curious about how organizations in public health and development actually use data, and you want to help them use it better. You thrive in collaborative, cross-cultural environments and bring a service orientation to technical work.
